GALWAY SUPERMACS FOUNDER ENTERS DEAL TO BUY LIMERICK HOTEL

Galway businessman and Supermac’s founder Pat McDonagh is entering the hotel industry.

The Irish Independent reports that he has entered a deal to buy the Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick.

Pat McDonagh is to buy the four-star, 107 bedroom hotel which is located beside the University of Limerick, for an estimated 3.5 million euro.

It’s understood he beat off competition from its orginal owner Chuck Feeney who first opened the facility in 1991.

The Carlton Hotel Group has operated the facility since 2009.

It’s understood there will be no job losses and Mr McDonagh plans to reinvest in the hotel complex and grow its business.
