GALWAY SENATOR WANTS IRELAND TO LEAD WAY ON MOBILE PHONE LEGISLATION

A Galway Senator believes Ireland should lead the way in passing legislation to have warning labels placed on mobile phones.

Green party Senator Niall Ó Brolchain says the Mobile Phone Labelling Bill has recently been published and will come before the Seanad for debate in the Autumn.

The bill would require mobile phone providers to warn adults and children of the potential health effects of using mobiles, and ensure that companies meet international standards on radiation protection.
