A Galway Labour Senator has suggested customers of Ulster Bank should take legal action for breach of contract.

80 branches around the country including two in the city- the Eyre Square branch

and the Newcastle road branch will open until 6pm in an effort to deal with customer demands.

Ulster Bank’s parent company is vowing that lessons will be learned, once it’s cleared its payment backlog.

RBS says a full investigation into the technical glitch that sparked the difficulties will be carried out.

Meanwhile, the Financial Services Ombudsman says he hasn’t yet received any complaints over the issue.
