GALWAY SENATOR SEEKS CLARITY ON DERELICT PORTUMNA HOTEL
Galway East Labour Senator Lorraine Higgins has sought clarify on future plans for the Shannon Oaks Hotel in Portumna.
The 3 star south Galway hotel was badly damaged by a fire in September 2011.
At the time, a team of up to 60 full and part-time staff were let go until such a time as the business could resume again.
Senator Higgins has now written to Grant Thornton, the receivers of the facility, on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce in Portumna.
She told Galway Bay fm news that its current dilapidated state is having a serious effect on tourism in the town on a year when the Gathering initiative is being celebrated in other towns and villages across the country.
