Galway Senator criticizes proposed bill to fund mental health services
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway Senator has criticized a proposed bill to provide extra resources for mental health services and suicide prevention by increased alcohol tax.
Speaking in the Dail, Sinn Fein Senator Trevor O Clochartaigh said that the proposed motion was not appropriate despite its good intentions.
He says that additional funding required for suicide prevention should come directly from the health budget.
Senator O Clochartaigh says that no aspect of healthcare should be dependent on the sale of alcohol.
