GALWAY SENATOR ANGRY AT ARTS DEBATE POSTPONEMENT

A Seanad debate on the economic importance of the Arts has been postponed until Autumn, angering Galway senator Trevor O’ Clochartaigh.

Senator O’ Clochartaigh has been calling for a debate on the Arts since he entered Leinster House, and had been told it would happen this week.

However, other matters took precedence and it’s now been agreed to hold the debate when the Seanad returns from its Summer break in September.

The Sinn Fein Senator believes a debate is essential so that politicians are informed what state supports need to be in place to develop and support artists.
