Galway secures €2m for storm damaged piers and harbours

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Over two million euro has been sanctioned by Government for repairs on piers and harbours which were damaged in Galway during severe storms.

15 local authority projects involving quays, slipways and piers have secured funding under the Storm Damage Programme.

The largest allocation of 216 thousand euro goes to Cé Sruthan Pier in Carraroe followed by Cé na Trá Ban in Lettermore which will get 198 thousand euro.

These are followed by Cé Annaghvaan, also in Lettermore and Cé Pointe in Carraroe where allocations of 180 thousand euro have been secured.

The Gun Rock beacon on Inishbofin has also secured 40 thousand euro as part of the programme which focuses on departmental owned non-fishery harbour centres.

Ros a Mhíl has also secured 133 thousand euro for a new slipway and 31 thousand euro to be used towards the design and planning for phase two of the small craft harbour.
