Galway screen star back on home turf

One of the country’s brightest acting talents is enjoying something of a special homecoming at the Galway Film Fleadh – with starring roles in not one, but two, movies, on the programme.

Moycullen native Emma Eliza Regan is about to move into a whole different stratosphere with the release of new thriller Darkness on the Edge of Town – in which she plays a bad-ass teenager opposite Brian Gleeson, son of Brendan – which is due for release to over fifty million viewers across America and Canada on Netflix this year.

The movie has already received rave reviews on the Irish and International festival circuit, screening in the presence of guests such as Orlando Bloom, Mark Ruffalo and Martin Freeman.

However for this week, the Moycullen native and a UNESCO Ambassador for the City Of Film returns to the Town Hall Theatre, with two films premiering as part of this year’s Galway Film Fleadh.

She stars in Ar Scath Le Cheile, directed by the prolific Hollywood actor and director Aisha Tyler (Friends, Criminal Minds, Arrow), and also staring Irish talent Emmet Hughes and Dean Rossiter as long lost brothers.

The Moycullen actress also stars in Adulting, a film focusing on a fresh perspective of youth culture in modern day Connemara and Galway City.

Written and directed by Linda Breathnach – well known for her work on TG4 in series Corp & Anam, Seacht, and Ros Na Run, it screens at 12:30pm today (Thursday) at the Town Hall Theatre.

The second youngest of five – her father is Moycullen publican Jim Regan and her sister Mary is a familiar face as Political Correspondent of UTV Ireland – Emma always wanted to be a dancer and started her training when she was five with the Corrib Dance Academy.
