Galway bay fm newsroom – Our children shouldn’t pay.

That’s the message from Galway primary schools who are to send postcards to all local TDs in the coming weeks.

It’s part of a campaign against any further cuts to pupil teacher ratios ahead of the budget.

It comes as new figures show that over 17 percent of city primary school pupils and 24 percent of those in the county are in class sizes of 30 or more.

The INTO teachers’ union is also to hold a meeting in the Galway Bay Hotel on September 23rd to debate the issue with parents and TDs.

Principal of Lough Cutra National School in Gort and Galway INTO representative Joe Kileen says a strong message will be sent to TDs
