Galway’s young circus goes to Germany

Daily snarl-ups on the Dyke Road and the Docks; peak hour tailbacks through Westside, Knocknacarra, Salthill, Renmore and Doughiska and stretching as far as Barna and Oranmore; and inner city traffic chaos — it’s a daily slog for Galway commuters and it’s no joke . . . until now that is.
The frantic panic of Galway motorists stuck in rush-hour congestion was parodied by seven teenagers of An Sorcas Beag at Shantalla Community Centre on Wednesday.
Aqua balance on unicycles representing the cars; juggling of red, green and orange rings representing traffic lights; acrobatics including what looked like painful splits; miming representing the illegal use of mobile phones by well-to-do ‘ladies who lunch’ when driving their sports cars and holding up the traffic; and clowning from performers dressed as a Garda, a businessman and a thief displaying appalling driving habits were just some of the highlights of the spectacle.
