Galway’s sky diving record breakers

Six Galway based skydivers helped break an Irish record breaking thirty person formation skydive at the weekend.

Mike Barrett, an engineering officer with the ESB, skydives most weekend in Co. Offaly and was one of the Galway skydivers who took part in the formation, though his role was as a freefall cameraman for the day.

Two planes were used over Clonbullogue, Co. Offaly to bring the 30 skydivers up 15,000 feet for the jump, which was only successful on the tenth attempt. Each attempt costs €25 a head but Mike said breaking the Irish record was well worth the €250 outlay and that he is looking forward to…..
