GALWAY’S RICHEST SEE WEALTH ALMOST HALVED

Two of Galway’s most prominent businessmen have had their multi-million euro fortune halved in the past year.

According to the Sunday Times Rich List, Padraig O’ Céidigh of Aer Arann has seen his fortune drop from 81million euro to 40million euro since last year.

Meanwhile, John Sweeney of Blackshore Holdings has seen his wealth decrease from 82 million euro in 2008 to 48million euro.

John Sweeney and Padraig Ó Céidigh rank 5th and 6th respectively on Galway’s Rich List.

Topping the Galway rich list are the Galway-based Smyth brothers who own Smyths toys with a fortune of 78 million euro.
