Galway’s Oireachtas members declare their financial interests

A Galway West TD has declared a house, four apartments along with several retail units in the city as Oireachtas members’ interests have been declared this week.

Fine Gael’s Deputy Brian Walsh has informed the Oireachtas of his personal interests which have been published this week.

Apart from his own home, Deputy Walsh owns a residence in Mervue along with apartments in Wellpark, New Docks in Galway, Quayside in Sligo and Foley Street in Dublin.

He also has a retail unit and two apartments at Briarhill in Galway along with a share in a property adjacent to the shopping centre there.

Deputy Walsh has a 10% share in a commercial property at Parkmore and Mervue Industrial Estates along with a 25% share in a commercial property at Briarhill Business Park.

In addition, he has a quarter acre site in Merlin Park along with a half acre site at Roscam, Galway which is intended for family use.

Three other Galway West TDs, Eamon Ó Cuiv (FF), Sean Kyne (FG) and Derek Nolan (Lab) have declared no interest in property outside their family homes.

But Deputy Noel Grealish has declared his 100% shareholding in the Galway Glass Centre at Briarhill Business Park along with a house in Cregmore, 15 acres of land at Carnmore and a commercial unit at Briarhill Business Park.

Over in Galway East, Deputy Micheal Kitt was declared to be the highest paid Galway politician in 20012 by netting over €180,000 including expenses.
