Galway’s Labour Councillors are calling for a series of amendments to the legislation regarding the Social Housing Assessment Regulations.

One of their main concerns is that housing applicants are not allowed to decide whether they want to live in Social, Rental, Voluntary or long-term

There are currently four thousand, six hundred and eighty two people on the Social Housing List in the City that could be affected by this legislation.

Galway City Councillor and Chairperson of the Housing SPC, Colette Connolly says there are many problems with the rental accommodation scheme.
