Galway’s goal blitz secures U.21 triumph
Date Published: 12-Sep-2007
A PERFORMANCE and a team to be proud of. It is not often that a Galway hurling team arrives in Croke Park as overwhelming favourites for an All-Ireland final and then proceeds to demolish the opposition in as ruthless a fashion as Vincent Mullins’ men managed on Sunday.
In winning the county’s second U-21 title in three years, the men in maroon showcased all the skills and spirit which have made this core
group of players exceptional down through the underage grades.
They blitzed the ‘Dubs’with an avalanche of early scores to ensure that the Leinsterchampions were in disarray and seemingly out of hope, trailing by 3-5 to 0-2, after just 15 minutes.
The Tribesmen had exceptional corner forwards in Kerril Wade and Conor Kavanagh, who only came on as a substitute in the semifinal.
