Galway’s baby boom

Galway University Hospital saw its highest number of deliveries ever in 2006, with a total of 3,274 babies born at the city hospital that year.
An annual report outlining activity in the hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Paediatrics Departments showed that the number of babies delivered at GUH increased by 15% over a seven year period, from 2000 to 2006.
In 2006, a total of 3,274 infants were born to 3,225 mothers — the highest number ever delivered at the city hospital. This figure also takes into account 47 sets of twins, and one set of triplets. In the report………
