Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Galway Roscommon university hospital group is currently operating with an overspend of 6.4 million euro.

The position for the group at the end of May was outlined at last evening’s meeting of the regional health forum west.

CEO of the hospital group Bill Maher described the overspend as a ‘concern’ adding another problem was the issue of income collection and the need for legislation.

The current outstanding debt at GRUHG awaiting consultant’s signature is 7 million euro, which if collected could mean the HSE would break even on its debt.

Newly re-elected chairperson of the regional health forum west, Padraig Conneely says new legislation on private health insurance needs to be introduced soon.
