Galway rockers to get answer from Belfast
Fans of unadulterated, pure rock need to pencil Monday, March 24 into their diaries, when The Answer will play the Róisín Dubh.
The Belfast based quartet, who released their fourth album, New Horizon last year, formed in 2000, and toured with AC/DC on their 2008/2009 world tour.
Their front man Cormac Gleeson has a distinctive, unrelenting rock howl. How is his voice holding up after over a decade with The Answer?
“Surprisingly well,” he says. “It’s actually been getting stronger and stronger over the years the more I’ve used it. Those early tours were tough enough to maintain my voice the way I wanted to. But having come off the back of two years solid touring, I definitely could tell my voice had gotten stronger.”
To record their fourth album Paul Mahon (guitar), Micky Waters (bass), James Heatly (drums) and Cormac went to Vale Studios at Evesham, in the south of England. The recording was done in three weeks, and Cormac enjoyed the working environment.
“It was a residential studo, so we were waking up in the morning and getting straight into the studio and we could record until whatever hour in the night we wanted. It suited the way we worked. . .”
