FOLLOWING his successful trip away to Vilamoura, there seems to be no stopping young Galway rider Sven Hadley. Back on Irish soil, he clocked up a series of impressive results at national and international level.

Craughwell based Hadley travelled to the Cavan Show to claim the first of a series of wins, taking the honours in the 1.20m Wexford Insurance League. Riding Clonross Mistral, Hadley scorched home with a clean sheet in 27.19 to claim the victory.

This is the second win for Hadley in this league having taken the first round at Kildare International in February. The series of good results now places him in contention of claiming the overall league which will come to a conclusion in mid-March.

Hadley’s good form continued at the Millstreet Welcome Tour over the Easter Weekend. The young rider got the ball rolling when claiming the 1.15m with Sovano Oceana. Not content with the win, Hadley went on to capture the 1.20m aboard Clonross Mistral.

Stable jockey Darragh Ryan was also in the ribbons, winning the 1.25m with Realt Na Carrig. Hadley’s fine form continued on Saturday with a series of good results, taking second place with Vigo in the 1.25m. Later in the day, Hadley took his first victory when riding Cassintine in the 1.30m class.

He delivered his last result of the day with Le Bon, slotting into fourth place in the 1.30m, while Ryan finished sixth with Realt Na Carrig in the same class. Sunday was another good day for Hadley as he won the 1.35m with Cassintine, while Clonross Mistral slotted into third in the 1.20m and Sovano Oceana accounted for fourth in the 1.15m. Hadley ended the tour on a great note when claiming the Grand Prix.

His week was not complete as he left Millstreet to compete at the European Championships trials at Barnadown in Wexford. An important event, the trials offer team selectors an opportunity to see young hopefuls in action as well as allowing riders gain their FEI accreditation to compete in the championships which will take place in Spain in July.
