NUI Galway researchers are taking part in a new EU funded alliance to deal with coastal flooding and climate change.

According to today’s Irish times, researchers from the college will work with their counterparts in France, Spain and Portugal to come up with the new plans.

The group, which will be called the "Atlantic Network for coastal risk management" have been granted around two million euro to develop their research.

Much of their work will focus on rural and urban coastal land planning, as well as shoreline erosion.
