Galway bay fm newsroom – Galway has the eight highest percentage drop in planning applications.

Applications dropped by 19 percent from 401 in January to June 2012, to 325 in the same period in 2013.

Galway also went from having a 20 percent drop in new builds last year to a drop of 27 percent this year.

The National Housing Construction Index for the first six months of the year shows that nationally, new applications of planning permission have fallen by 10 per cent and new builds have dropped 14 per cent, compared to last year.

The biggest drop in applications for planning permission was in Offaly, Leitrim and Sligo.
