Galway refusing to close the door on festival racing crowds
GALWAY Racecourse will be playing the long game before any decisions are made in relation to the prospect of crowds attending their iconic Summer Racing Festival.
With the week-long meeting still five months away, the track’s General Manager, Michael Moloney, and the Galway Race Committee, are keeping all options open ahead of the 2021 festival.
Though Moloney accepts that the current outlook for significant crowds attending sports events by late July isn’t positive, he remains hopeful that the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccines will have altered that situation by late summer.
“If things change and we are put in a position to host people at the festival, we will be ready to facilitate them,” said Moloney this week.
