Galway recruitment company aims to go the distance for Pieta House
The staff and management of Collins McNicholas are joining forces to take on a 250km challenge in Galway on Friday, September 20, in aid of Pieta House.
With headquarters in Galway and four other offices, in Dublin, Cork, Sligo and Athlone it is the only national recruitment company to be headquartered outside of Dublin – so the challenge will take place on the grounds of the Galway Greyhound Stadium on that day.
The challenge will involve an individual input so they are asking those participating to walk or run a comfortable distance – whether you can walk 2km or jog 10km they will be delighted to have you on board. All kilometres will be clocked on the day to reach the intended distance so the more people involved the better to smash their goal.
Pieta House is a suicide and self-harm crisis centre founded by psychologist Joan Freeman. It first opened its doors in Lucan, Co. Dublin in January 2006, and there are now four Pieta House centres throughout Dublin, one in Limerick and one in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. Three new centres will open in 2013 in Tuam, Cork and Castleisland.
Speaking on behalf of Collins McNicholas, Galway Regional Manager Michelle Murphy said: “the selection of a charity to donate the proceedings from our event was not an easy task however the work carried out by Pieta House in this current challenging environment is crucial as many families are feeling the brunt of difficult times so need support, guidance and someone to share the burden of the load they are carrying”.
If you wish to join the Collins McNicholas team on the day to help them smash the 250km challenge, contact Michelle Murphy on 091-706706. Donation cards are available or you can pledge donations on http://www.mycharity.ie/event/collins_mcnicholas_250km_challenge_galway
