GALWAY RAPE TRIAL HEARS ACCUSED DENIED ANY WRONG DOING
Date Published: 07-Feb-2013
The trial of a Galway man accused of raping his wife’s sister and locking her in a room for hours has heard he denied any wrongdoing to gardai
The 49-year-old accused told investigators that “the whole thing is pure lies” and that he never raped, hit or had consensual sex with the woman.
He also denied holding a flick-knife to her throat while warning her not to tell anyone about the alleged abuse.
During four interviews he agreed the girl had moved in with his family as a teenager but said he never laid a hand on her.
He suggested a family fight may be the reason for the allegations.
The trial continues before Mr Justice Garrett Sheehan.
