Galway pubs spearhead campaign for cheaper pint

GALWAY publicans are to spearhead a campaign to convince the Government to reduce taxes on alcohol so that they can bring down the price of the pint by as much as 50 cent.

The matter is to be raised at the forthcoming AGM of the County Galway vintners in effort salvage something from an ailing industry.

A call is to be made on the Government to reduce their revenue take on the sale of alcohol and make it more attractive for customers to return to the pubs.

Sales of alcohol last year were down by more than 10% on the previous year and now Galway publicans are initiating a campaign that would lead to a reduction in the price of the pint.
