Galway publishers take centre stage
Writers from Galway publishers Wordsonthestreet and Doire Press will be celebrated at the July Over the Edge Writers’ gathering which takes place next Thursday, July 9, from 6.30-8pm at Galway City Library.
Readers will include novelist Máire T. Robinson, poet Mary Madec, Horslips drummer Eamon Carr, fiction writers John Fogarty, Lorne Patterson, and Paul O’Reilly, whose first collection of stories, The Girl Missing from the Window, was launched last week.
Of special interest to Galway readers will be Máire T. Robinson, whose recently published début novel Skin, Paper, Stone (New Island, 2015) is set in a post-boom Galway, full of familiar haunts.
Máire is a graduate of the MA in writing at NUI, Galway and was the overall winner of the Doire Press Chapbook Competition in 2013. Her short story collection Your Mixtape Unravels My Heart was published as a result.
Admission to Over the Edge is free and all are welcome.
