The chairperson of the HSE regional health forum West has described the number of patients waiting for treatment at the city’s public hospitals as ‘alarming’

There are over 40 thousand patients on the outpatient waiting list for UHG & Merlin Park hospitals.

The un-validated figures were revealed at this evening’s meeting of the regional health forum in Merlin Park and Cllr Conneely says UHG needs to move quicker

The HSE says that once the numbers have been validated, it expects a reduction in the number of patients on waiting lists.

It also says that initiatives are in place to curb the high number of patients on lists and so far significant progress has been made.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief operating officer of HSE West, Tony Kanavan says they are making strides to reduce waiting lists.
