GALWAY PLANNING PERMISSIONS HALF LAST YEAR

The number of planning permissions for new homes in Galway has almost halved since last year.

That’s according to figures from the Central Statistics Office.

176 permissions were granted for homes in the city and county for the second quarter of 2009.

The figures show that planning permission was granted for 15 houses and apartments in the city, and 161 in the county.

This compares to 341 for the same period last year.
