An exciting new Lunchtime series entitled From Europe with Love is being presented as part of the Autumn/Winter programme from Galway Music Residency (GMR). The programme was launched on Tuesday.

From Europe with Love is the start of an ambitious three-year project, based in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, which will explore the repertoire for string quartet from the 27 European Union member countries over three series of monthly lunchtime concerts, starting this September and running until June 2021 (on the first Tuesday of every month from September to June, except January).

GMR’s Artistic Chair Jane O’Leary announced this event as part of the build-up to Galway’s tenure as European Capital of Culture in 2020.

With other favourite series such as 3 Saturdays: 3 Kinds of Music, sponsored by LK Shields Solicitors and curated by Matthew Berrill, as well as ConTempo Countywide, Galway audiences of all ages and in different locations have lots to look forward to this Autumn and Winter.

The launch of the Autumn/Winter programme was held at the O’Donoghue Centre for Drama, Theatre & Performance in NUI Galway.

The Director of the new BA in Music at NUIG, Dr Aidan Thomson, launched it and highlighted the ongoing impact of Galway Music Residency and the ConTempo String Quartet, both on the campus, and throughout Galway City and County.
