A U.S army Colonel, who resigned over the invasion of Iraq in 2003, will speak at a public meeting in the city later.

Colonel Ann Wright resigned because she was against the invasion of Iraq without the consent of the U. Security Council, among other reasons concerning foreign policy.

She will speak at a public meeting at Richardsons, Eyre Square at 8 o’ clock this evening, organised by Galway Alliance Against War.

Earlier today, she visited Shannon Airport as part of her speaking tour of Ireland.

Colonel Wright says she didn’t agree with the war on Iraq during the Bush Administration and doesn’t support Obama’s policy either.
