Galway man appointed Chair of Commonage Implementation Committee

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway livestock farmer has been appointed as Chair of the new Commonage Implementation Committee.
The group will hold its first meeting next Tuesday (Aug 26).
Joe Healy is a former President of Macra na Feirme and a former Chairperson of Athenry mart.
He will be assisted by senior officials from the Department of Agriculture.
It comes as hill farmers in Connemara are intensifying their campaign for changes to the newly introduced agri-environment scheme.
Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney says the group has been established in a bid to address the concerns of many hill farmers.
