A 35 year old Galway man is to be sentenced next January for selling cannabis cakes at a music festival.

Paraic Brannigan, with an address at Rahoon in Galway, appeared before Ballyshannon District Court, where he was charged with possession of cannabis for sale and giving a false name.

The Irish Times reports that Brannigan admitted to having slices of cannabis cake for sale at €4 each, at the Rory Gallagher music festival in Ballyshannon last June.

The court heard that he had no previous convictions and was living in Galway for the past year, after returning from Mexico where he had worked in an orphanage.

He was remanded on bail for sentencing and background reports on January 6th.
