Galway Bay fm newsroom – Junior Jobs Minister John Perry says Galway’s Local Enterprise Office will play an important role in shaping the county’s economic development.
Speaking at the official launch of the L-E-O at County Hall this afternoon, Minister Perry said the centre will be the first port of call for budding entrepreneurs.
A national network of 31 LEOs is being established, with more staff, funding and and services being provided.
The offices are being set up as part of the Action Plan for Jobs which aims to support job creation across Ireland.
The Galway office will merge the functions of the City Enterprise Board with the Local Authority Business Support Unit.
It will deliver services to start-ups and small businesses across the city and county.
Speaking at the launch in the last hour, Minister Perry says the fact that there are 9000 micro-enterprises in Galway shows the need for a comprehensive support service.
