GALWAY LIFEBOAT RESCUES TWO MEN FROM POWER BOAT
Date Published: 01-Jul-2011
The Galway Lifeboat has rescued two men whose powerboat broke down in Galway Bay and drifted close to rocks (Friday 1 July).
The 19-foot powerboat suffered mechanical failure and began to drift onto rocks in Mweeloon Bay, south of New Harbour, at about 1.15pm.
The two men immediately raised the alarm and the Irish Coastguard Rescue 115 Helicopter and the RNLI Lifeboat arrived within minutes.
The volunteer lifeboat crew first checked that the men did not require medical attention and then took the boat under tow back to Galway Docks.
There was no damage to the powerboat.
