A team of health professionals employed by the West of Ireland cardiology foundation Croí is leading the way in preventing heart attacks and strokes.

That’s according to Dr Susan Connolly who is visiting University Hospital Galway today from the Imperial College in London.

Over 500 Galwegians have benefited from Croí’s ‘My Action’ programme.

Since its launch last year, the health team has seen a 50 per cent drop in smokers as well as a 20 per cent reduction in risk of heart attack.
