Galway Labour TD defends stance on Budget
Galway bay fm newsroom – Galway West Labour T.D, Derek Nolan, is defending a letter published in the Irish Times today where he said his party are not ‘austerity junkies’.
(August 2)
Deputy Nolan wrote the letter with 4 other party colleagues, in response to a letter previously published, where 8 Fine Gael backbenchers set out their view on the Budget options.
He says the Fine Gael TDs want more cuts in public spending even if that is more than is necessary to meet targets with the Troika.
Deputy Nolan says he and his colleagues signed up to the Programme of Government to save the country from bankruptcy, to do as much austerity as needed and not a cent more.
