GALWAY JUDGE CRITICISES PRISON SERVICE AUTHORITIES

A Galway District Court judge has criticised the Prison Service Authorities for releasing a Romanian woman after she had served just two days of a two-month prison sentence imposed on her last year for shop lifting.

Judge Mary Fahy said it was no wonder that the woman had been caught shoplifting in Galway City on two separate dates afterwards.

22 year old Anna Babusoru had been released after just two days by the Prison Authorities, having received a two-month prison sentence for a similar offence at Ennis District Court last May.
