GALWAY INDIAN COMMUNITY TO JOIN CITY CANDLELIT VIGIL

Members of the Galway Indian community will join the candlelight vigil in Eyre Square today to demonstrate their support for the family of Savita Halapanavaar.
The group will gather at University Hospital Galway before walking to Eyre Square for the vigil at Browne’s doorway at 5pm.
31 year old Savita, died on the 28th of October after contracting septicaemia following a miscarriage at University Hospital Galway.
Her family claim she was refused a medical termination.
The Health Minister James Reilly says he will await two reports into the woman’s death before deciding what action must be taken.
The HSE says it has identified an international expert in obstetrics and gynacaeology to join the inquiry team reviewing the death of Savita Halappanavar.
Up to one thousand people are expected to attend today’s vigil which is being organised by Galway pro-choice.
