Both Ballinasloe and Galway city have fared well in the latest round of the Irish Business Against Litter League.

The survey of towns and cities around Ireland, carried out by An Taisce, revealed significant improvements in litter levels.

Ballinasloe has moved up 22 places in this round to 9th position with a status of “clean to European norms.”

The city has moved from 34th position in the first round to 2nd place in the latest round, the highest position a city has achieved to date.

In its assessment, An Taisce states that Ballinasloe town “clearly made an effort this year in overall presentation.”

It also states that the two residential areas of Ard Mhuire were excellent.

Regarding Galway city, An Taisce says the Dominic Street car park has seen a marked improvement and there is far less dog fouling on the Prom in Salthill.
