GALWAY IFA CAMPAIGN FOR CHANGES TO REPS SCHEME

An IFA deputation from Galway joined County groups from all over the country in Dublin this afternoon to campaign for an increase in money and a reduction in the regulations attached to the new REPS …or Rural Environment scheme.

The IFA invited politicians from all parties to the meeting.

The average payment per farmer from the scheme in County Galway up to now, was over €8,000 euro per year.

But the IFA says the new scheme is largely unworkable and that the average payment in the County could be cut down by 60 per cent or more.
