GALWAY HP PARTNERS AFRICAN ORGANISATION TO COMBAT HIV

A leading technology company in the city has partnered up with a South African organisation to help combat the transmission of HIV.

Researchers at HP in Galway have produced a system that will convert paper-based patient records into digital format.

The ‘Mothers to Mothers Organisation’ in Africa, which mentors mothers with HIV, will use this technology to access up-to-date information on patient treatment plans.

In the next phase of the programme, the South African organisation will be able to collect and share data via basic mobile phones.
