Galway homes with radon could face bills when sold
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Homes in Galway with high radon levels could face large bills to remove radon gas prior to the building being sold.
The Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland wants homeowners to identify and remove radon gas from homes before they are sold.
It’s thought the cost could reach one thousand euro per home and the measures will be considered by the Cabinet early in the New Year.
Last month, it was revealed that one in four homes surveyed in Galway are above the acceptable level of the cancer-causing radon gas.
A home in Ballymoe was found to have 21 times the acceptable level of radon, while two other homes in Ballindooley and Castlegar had more than 11 times the acceptable level.
