GALWAY HEART TRANSPLANT PATIENT BREAKS MARATHON WORLD RECORD

A 44 year old Galway man and Heart Transplant recipient has broken his own personal and best known world record for a heart transplant recipient in today’s Dublin City Marathon.

Breaking his previous time by 8 minutes Ernesto Antonio completed today’s marathon in 3 hours 45 minutes.

Today he celebrates the 9th anniversary of his heart transplant which took place at the Mater Hospital.

He grew up in Bushy Park, Galway, but now lives and works as a nurse in Essex.

Speaking with Galway Bay FM news soon after he crossed the finishing line, Ernesto says the achievement of completing the race is all down to the family who donated their son’s heart.
