GALWAY HAS BELOW AVERAGE REGISTRATION OF SEPTIC TANKS AT 45 PERCENT

Households in Galway city and county are below the 60 percent national average in their compliance with the septic tank registration system with an average of 45 percent.

As the February deadline approaches, just 50 per cent of septic tank owners in the county have paid the 50 euro registration fee, that represents just under 21 thousand of the 42 thousand on-site waste water treatment’s liable.

While in the city, 40 percent of septic tanks have been registered to date, that’s just 455 of the estimated 1,145 systems.
