Galway Bay Fm Newsroom
GALWAY Fine Gael Senator Fidelma Healy Eames says she will vote against the governments proposed Protection of Life in Pregnancy Bill.
She conveyed her decision to her local Fine Gael branch in Maree yesterday (Saturday) and to the Taoiseach and the party’s HQ.
Speaking to Galway Bay Fm news she says she waited until seeing the bill on Thursday before taking a final decision.
Senator Healy Eames says she is “deeply disappointed” that she finds herself having to vote against her party on the bill.
But she added that she could not support the bill while the suicide clause remains.
She described it as an “unjust” and “dangerous” bill which is not about saving women’s lives as is being claimed.
