A YOUNG Galway-born woman is about to step out onto one of the biggest golfing stages later this year — but she’ll be representing the United States in the process.
In fact there will be a lot of divided loyalties when Alison Walshe will be part of the American team which will take on Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup.
Tuam born Alison (22) will be representing the States in women’s amateur golf’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup — but she is still very proud of her Irish roots.
Alison, who is staring in the face of a very successful professional career, is the daughter of John and Mary Walsh.
John Walsh grew up in Gort but moved to Spiddal where his father’s family was originally from. Mary is from Crossmolina in Mayo.
