Galway get reality check

LEITRIM moaned about it being the same old story . . . Galway breathed one large sigh of relief . . . but when the final chapter of this Connacht semi-final saga was penned, the pride, passion and spirit of the ‘small man’ just fell short of what was required.
Galway will be reasonably happy to have left the revamped Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada on Sunday afternoon with a Connacht final place booked after a hard earned victory over a fiery Leitrim side,
just a tad short on finishing savvy.
It was never going to be easy for Galway in Carrick-on-Shannon and when Leitrim received the tonic of an early goal, they played with an
abandon and purpose which had their fans in full voice over the course of the first 35 minutes.
There was also the unexpected bonus for Leitrim of unsettling the Galway full backline from the early minutes. Leitrim ‘hit’ their full forward with lots of quick ball, both high and low, in the process creating enough chances to win the match.
