Galway GAA Chairman believes outlook getting better for club matches
GALWAY’S top GAA official is upbeat about the county hurling and football championships belatedly starting in August.
County Board Chairman, Pat Kearney, says he is increasingly optimistic that clubs will be swinging into championship action later in the summer.
“There have been lots of discussions and we are ready to roll with our revamped championships if we get the go ahead. Walkways around pitches are due to open next week and the indicators are that clubs could resume training at the end of June.
“It’s necessary to get society moving again and our young people back out. This has been tough on everyone but the mood music about getting the games on is more positive now.”
Kearney also revealed that a lot of work had already been done in the restructuring and organisation of Cúl Camps around the county this summer. “We have a plan in place and it’s important to get the kids back out.”
