Private firms across Galway may follow the example of the city council by making greater use of water from roofs for non-drinking purposes according to Mayor Tom Costello.

The Mayor made his comments after launching two rainwater-harvesting projects at council buildings at Sandy road and Carrabrowne.

Mayor Costello says rainwater collected from council property at Sandy Road will be used for street cleaning and vehicle washing purposes.
