To mark the inaugural ‘Ironman 70.3 Ireland’ which takes place in Galway in September, the World’s No.1 Triathlon Event has teamed up with local heart and stroke charity Croí, to launch the Ironman 70.3 Team Relay Event.

The first Team to enter this unique challenge will represent ‘Galway Fire Service’ as a team of three local firemen have just announced their intention to lead the way in team entries and lay down a challenge to other like-minded groups…. and all for a very good cause!

All relay entries in the Galway Ironman event will be charity entries, where the entry fee will help fund a range of projects actively promoting heart health and preventing death from heart attack and stroke. "Heart Disease and Stroke are a major cause of death and disability in Ireland accounting for almost 50% of all deaths. One of the best ways to reduce ones risk of cardiovascular disease is to increase fitness levels by engaging in physical activity" says Neil Johnson, CEO of the Charity. "Croí are delighted to partner with Ironman 70.3 Ireland in what we believe will be a landmark event for Galway and for our Charity,” he said.

The Ironman 70.3 Relay is achievable for anyone who is active and enjoys a challenge. Teams will comprise of three athletes, each completing a leg of the relay – a swimmer, cyclist and runner. Team members can be either the same gender or any combination of male & female. Scheduled for Sunday, September 4, Ironman 70.3 Ireland will take place in and around the scenic city of Galway.
